In our previous clash, Haryana Steelers edged past us with a mere margin of 3 points. But, as the saying goes: winning and losing is a part and parcel of the game. The Eagles will want to take the positives from the match & move onto the clash against Jaipur Pink Panthers. We have been pushing ourselves to a new level by training even harder to make a comeback. Dr. Ramesh Bhendigiri has also worked closely with the rookie players by giving us the much needed push, which we lacked in the absence of captain, Meraj Sheykh.
Rohit Baliyan has stepped up in the last two games, scoring 14 points. His form will be crucial for us going into a run of 7 games in 10 days. He was well supported by Anand Patil and Abolfazl even though we fell short. Taking about our defence, Sunil Kumar is continuing to be a thorn for the raiders along with Satpal Narwal in defence who has been sharp at the right corner. The only place where we are lacking is holding our nerves in the dying moments that is costing us the game. We as a unit have rectified this flaw by working hard on our shortcomings.
In our previous encounter against the same opposition, Meraj Sheykh (7 points) & Nilesh Shinde (5 points) led the charge supported by super-sub, Abolfazl (4 points) to start the campaign with a victory. We were trailing 16-8 after the first half & made a remarkable comeback to win the match by 30-26. The Eagles will not settle for anything less than a double over Jaipur Pink Panthers.
Some vital insights about Jaipur Pink Panthers, Manjeet Chhillar has so far marshalled his troops well in the games that he has played. With the likes of Jasvir Singh and Pawan Kumar the Panthers are a formidable side. A win over them will see us leapfrog them & move into the 5th position in the Zone A standings. We are all set to turn things around in Ranchi and take this positive momentum to our home leg.
